A Chinese Jade Recumbent Mythical Beast.
Carved from a rich, variegated brown jade with lighter natural inclusions, the figure is modelled as a recumbent mythical beast shown crouching with its head turned to one side. The body is compact and muscular, with pronounced haunches, stylised limbs tucked beneath, and a curling tail drawn closely to the rear. The head is finely detailed with alert eyes, flared nostrils, and an open mouth, while flowing incised lines articulate the mane and contours of the form.
