A Chinese Bronze Pixiu-Form Censer with Detachable Head.
A Chinese bronze censer cast in the form of a pixiu, modelled standing foursquare with a robust body, pronounced musculature, and an animated expression. The creature is shown with an open mouth, bulging eyes, curled mane, and a raised, scrolling tail, all rendered with finely incised hairwork and stylised detailing. The back is hollowed to form the censer cavity, while the head is detachable, functioning as a removable cover, fitted with a patterned collar at the neck. Decorative beaded chains with pendant elements are cast in relief across the shoulders and flanks.
