A Khorassan Bronze Ewer with Inscribed Panels, 12th Century.
A bronze ewer from Khorassan featuring a faceted body with vertical panels finely inscribed with Arabic script. The tall neck rises to a pronounced spout decorated at its base with a repoussé mask of a human face, flanked by a curved handle attached to the rim and body. The footed base also bears incised inscriptions, harmonizing with the detailed surface decoration. The ewer’s surface is richly adorned, with alternating raised flutes and engraved calligraphy.
