A Pair of Islamic Khorasan-Style Bronze Zoomorphic Censers.
A pair of Islamic Khorasan-style bronze censers formed as stylised quadrupeds, each standing on four sturdy legs with raised, scrolling tails. The bodies are densely pierced with intricate openwork arabesque and vegetal motifs, allowing the release of incense smoke. Each figure features a rounded head with alert facial expression, pointed ears, and engraved detailing to the eyes and muzzle. The necks are encircled by decorative collars incorporating geometric bands. The hinged construction to the upper sections indicates their use as functional censers.
H: Approximately 18cm
