A Persian Engraved Copper Kashkul Beggar’s Bowl with Figural and Calligraphic Panels.
A kashkul of elongated oval form, the exterior richly engraved with dense scrolling foliage framing cartouches of Arabic calligraphy. One side features a figural scene depicting a standing figure offering a bowl to a kneeling attendant, set within an arched surround. The body is further decorated with repeating vegetal motifs covering the remaining surface. The vessel is fitted with a metal chain suspension attached to pierced lugs at the rim, and retains a small spout at one end.
