An Islamic Iron Lock with Key and Arabic Inscription.
The cylindrical body is segmented into decorative bands, alternating between calligraphic panels and floral motifs, each separated by raised ribs. The top bar and blade of the key are similarly inlaid, bearing dense script indicative of Qur’anic verses or talismanic invocations – “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful… Allah is the best protector, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful.”
Additional parts refer to divine protection and blessings upon the Prophet and may include verses from Surah Al-Fath or Ayat al-Kursi, which are commonly inscribed for protection.
