A Pair of Chinese Doucai ‘Red Bats and Clouds’ Porcelain Tea Cups.
Each flared cup is decorated with a continuous design of iron-red bats flying amid multicoloured lingzhi-shaped ruyi clouds in green, blue, purple, yellow, and orange enamels against a white ground. The bats and clouds are arranged in auspicious repetition symbolising good fortune and longevity. The base bears a six-character mark, possibly indicating the period or origin of the piece.
