A Chinese Export Black Lacquer and Gilt Chinoiserie Writing Box.
A rectangular Chinese export lacquered writing box decorated throughout with gilt chinoiserie scenes of figures among pavilions, gardens, and birds in flight. The hinged lid opens to reveal a fall-front writing surface and fitted interior compartments. The exterior is bordered with gilt floral and star motifs.
