A Kashmiri Painted Qalamdan Pen Box, 19th Century.
A Kashmiri painted qalamdan pen box of elongated rectangular form with a gently domed lid, decorated throughout in rich tones of red, green, gold, and earthy brown. The exterior is embellished with continuous paisley scrolls, interlaced foliate patterns, and dense miniature floral bands wrapping around the box. The top features a central symmetrical floral motif framed by intricate tendrils, while the ends display compact floral fields that complement the overall design.
