An Indian Mughal Portrait of a Nobleman with Spear, 19th Century.
A finely executed Indian Mughal miniature portraying a nobleman standing in an elegant full-length pose against a deep olive-green ground. The figure is adorned in a white jama subtly patterned with gold motifs, paired with striped trousers and a richly decorated sash featuring suspended ornaments. His posture is poised and authoritative, holding a long spear in one hand while the other rests confidently near the hilt of a dagger. The nobleman’s face is rendered with delicate precision, framed by a jewelled turban and crowned with a radiant nimbus, emphasising his elevated status. At his feet, small clusters of red, yellow, and white blossoms enliven the foreground, adding contrast to the verdant setting.
Approximately 23 x 15cm
