A Qajar Brass Kashkul Beggar’s Bowl with Turquoise Inlay, 19th Century.
A finely engraved Qajar brass beggar’s bowl (kashkul) of elongated boat form, the body profusely decorated with dense arabesques, scrolling floral motifs, and figural roundels depicting animals, seated figures, and mythical beasts. Bands of naskh calligraphy in Arabic inscriptions encircle the surface, interspersed with detailed foliage. The terminals are fitted with dragon-form hooks embellished with turquoise inlay, framing the vessel.
