An Imitation Fatimid Gold Dinar, 12th Century.
A pierced imitation Fatimid gold dinar, 12th century, struck in the style of official Fatimid issues. Both sides are decorated with concentric circular inscriptions in Kufic script, with the central field inscribed with ʿAlī walī Allāh (ʿAlī is the friend of God), encircled by further Qur’anic phrases. The outer bands carry additional inscriptions in bold Kufic. The upper edge shows a deliberate piercing, suggesting the coin was later repurposed as a pendant or amulet.
