A Venetian Zecchino (Ducat) Gold Coin, Circa 18th Century.
A finely struck Venetian gold zecchino, pierced for suspension, dating to the 18th century, circa 1780s. One side depicts the standing Doge of Venice receiving the standard from Saint Mark, with Latin inscriptions encircling the figures. The reverse shows Christ standing within an almond-shaped mandorla of stars, surrounded by further inscriptions. The suspension hole at the top suggests it was once worn as a devotional pendant or amulet.
