An elongated Persian qalamdan made of papier-mâché, richly decorated in lacquered polychrome paint. The sliding lid features a finely dressed female figure flanked by two bust portraits of women, each painted within floral medallions. The sides are adorned with vivid narrative scenes of courtly life and leisure, showing men and women in garden settings.
