A Chinese Amethyst Carving of a Recumbent Pixiu.
Carved from translucent purple amethyst, this Chinese figure depicts a recumbent Pixiu—a mythical beast symbolising wealth and protection. The stylised creature is rendered with a curled tail, muscular haunches, and detailed paws. Its expressive face, with bulging eyes and flared nostrils, bears bared fangs beneath a rippling mane.
L: Approximately 6.4cm
Provenance: Private collection from a British gentleman.
