A Large Tibetan Bronze and Iron Kartika, Ritual Vajra Knife.
This formidable ritual implement, known as a kartika, features a crescent-shaped iron blade used symbolically in Vajrayana Buddhist ceremonies. The elaborate bronze handle is topped with a five-pronged vajra (dorje), symbolising indestructibility and spiritual power. Beneath the grip, the blade emerges from the mouth of a fierce makara, a mythical sea creature believed to ward off evil.
