Late Period, around 664-332 BC. An ancient Egyptian mummy shroud adorned with beadwork, featuring a visage. Below the mask, a beaded pectoral winged scarab symbolises rebirth. Beneath, you’ll find the Four Sons of Horus – Imsety, Duamutef, Hapi, and Qebehsenuef – guardians of the deceased’s organs. These shrouds, in use from the Late Dynastic Period to the Ptolemaic era, held both aesthetic and profound symbolic value within the intricate rituals of Egyptian burials. Approximately 25.5cm long.
