An Egyptian Hardstone Palette Depicting King Narmer, Possibly Ancient.

A finely carved Egyptian palette made of mottled dark hardstone, shaped with a gently tapering shield-like profile and decorated in low relief. The central scene portrays a dominant standing figure, likely King Narmer, wearing the White Crown of Upper Egypt and smiting a kneeling enemy—an iconic motif symbolising pharaonic conquest. Additional figures, hieroglyphic elements, and animals adorn the field, including a falcon (possibly Horus) above bound captives and stylised flora. The top features two protruding bovine heads, echoing the ceremonial palettes of Egypt’s Early Dynastic period, particularly reminiscent of the famed Narmer Palette.

H: Approximately 22.5cm

Provenance: Private collection from a distinguished W London collector.
