A Roman Agate Intaglio Depicting the Bust of Young Heracles, 1st–3rd Century CE.
A Roman intaglio carved from warm orange agate, featuring a finely detailed bust of the youthful Heracles in profile facing right. His distinctive curled hair is rendered in raised relief, crowned by a lion skin draped over his shoulder — a classical allusion to the Nemean lion, his first heroic labour.
