"Untitled" – S.H. RAZA (1922–2016)

A watercolour painting depicting a majestic colonial-era building with domes and minarets rising prominently against a softly clouded sky. The structure is rendered in warm earthy tones, with hints of brick red and sandstone yellow, set amidst patches of greenery and a broad avenue. Signed in the lower right corner: "S.H. Raza."

Sayed Haider Raza was a foundational figure in Indian modern art, known for his evolution from expressionistic landscapes to abstract spiritual geometry, particularly the symbolic bindu. A co-founder of the Progressive Artists’ Group in post-independence Bombay, Raza spent much of his career in France while maintaining a deep connection to Indian philosophy and aesthetics. Honoured with the Padma Vibhushan and numerous global accolades, Raza remains one of the most celebrated Indian artists of the 20th century.

Approximately 32.5 x 20cm

Provenance: Private collection from a distinguished British gentleman.
