A Rare Large Qajar Tinned-Copper Bowl with Dragon Handles, 19th Century.
A wide, boat-shaped tinned-copper bowl with a softly rounded body and two prominent upward-facing handles cast in the form of open-mouthed dragons. The surface is densely engraved with silver-toned floral scrollwork and arabesques set against a darkened ground. Two broad bands of calligraphic inscriptions encircle the upper half of the bowl in a continuous horizontal flow. The lower section features tightly interwoven floral motifs, with alternating patterns of blossoms and leaves. The dragon handles are detailed with scales, ridges, and pierced rings.
