A Silver Umayyad Dirham, Mint of Wāsiṭ, Dated 124 AH (741 AD).
A finely preserved silver dirham from the Umayyad Caliphate, struck at the mint of Wāsiṭ in 124 AH (741 AD). The obverse displays the classic square-in-circle design with Arabic inscriptions arranged in linear bands, surrounded by a beaded border. The reverse features elegant concentric inscriptions of Qur’anic text and mint details, all rendered in early Kufic script.
