A Large Tibetan Bronze Ritual Ewer with Dragon Handle and Repoussé Ornament.
A Tibetan bronze ritual ewer of baluster form, rising from a flared, lobed foot to a waisted neck and domed hinged cover surmounted by a lotus-bud finial. The body is richly decorated with repoussé and applied bands of scrolling motifs and stylised dragons set within beaded borders.
The handle is cast in the form of a sinuous dragon with scaled body and expressive head, forming a sculptural grip, while the opposing curved spout emerges from a mythical beast mask terminal. The hinged lid is secured with a linked chain and further adorned with scrolling ornament.
