A Kashmiri Illuminated Qur’anic Frontispiece with Central Calligraphy Panel.
An intricate Kashmiri illuminated manuscript-style composition, centred around a diamond-shaped cartouche containing Arabic calligraphy, likely invoking sacred Qur’anic text. The central inscription is framed within a richly ornamented field of scrolling arabesques and densely arranged floral motifs, executed in deep cobalt blue, crimson, rose, and gold tones against a warm buff ground.
The elaborate border structure is composed of layered panels featuring repeating geometric and vegetal patterns, creating a visually rhythmic and symmetrical design. Stylised floral sprays extend along the outer margins, enhancing the architectural framing of the composition. The palette is vibrant yet harmonious, with strong contrast between the dark ground and the luminous decorative elements.
Approximately 36.2 x 31.2cm (incl. frame)
