An Ottoman calligraphic painting, dating to the 19th Century. Executed in black ink on a sheet of tan-colored paper, the central design features an intricate composition of Arabic script rendered in a style that simultaneously forms the architectural outline of a mosque or mausoleum, complete with multiple domes and flanking minarets. The main calligraphy appears to spell out "لا فتى الا علي لا سيف الا ذوالفقار" (Lā fatā illā Alī, lā sayfa illā Dhū al-Faqār), translating to "There is no hero but Ali, there is no sword but Dhulfiqar."
