An exceptional autograph manuscript of Al-Ashbāh wa al-Naẓāʾir, the celebrated compendium of Ḥanafī jurisprudential principles composed by the eminent Egyptian jurist Zayn al-Dīn Ibn Nujaym al-Miṣrī al-Ḥanafī (d. 970 AH / 1563 CE).
The manuscript is explicitly dated 969 AH (1561–1562 CE) and is recorded as being in the author’s own hand, placing it within the final year of Ibn Nujaym’s life. The work represents one of the most influential legal syntheses in the Ḥanafī school, systematically organising legal maxims and analogical principles foundational to Ottoman-era jurisprudence.
The manuscript further contains a reading note (samāʿ / ijāzah-style notation) by Shaykh al-Islām, the Mufti Abū al-Suʿūd Efendi (d. 982 AH), dated 980 AH, reflecting its circulation within the highest scholarly circles of the Ottoman Empire. Additionally, a counterwritten note by ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Manṣūr, dated 1003 AH in Constantinople, attests to its continued scholarly transmission and study in the imperial capital.
