A Qajar Polychrome Enamelled Vase with Avian and Floral Decoration, 19th Century.
A finely decorated Qajar ceramic vase of baluster form with a flared rim and short cylindrical neck, the body richly enamelled in vibrant tones of cobalt blue, emerald green, soft pink, yellow and brown against a white ground.
The central register features a perched bird amongst blossoming rose sprays and leafy branches, framed within arched cartouches bordered in deep blue. Twisted blue columns flank the main panel, adding architectural structure to the design. The shoulder and foot are encircled by intricate scrolling vegetal bands, while the neck is further embellished with floral panels.
