An Indo-Persian Steel Padlock and Key with Calligraphic Decoration. –
The padlock is of rectangular body with a large arched shackle rising above the case. The surfaces are densely engraved with bands of stylised calligraphy and interlaced vegetal motifs, arranged in horizontal and vertical registers that fully articulate the body. The shackle is similarly decorated with repeating scrollwork along its outer edge, continuing the ornamental scheme.
