Buyer's Premium:

A Pair of Kashmiri Enamelled Brass Vases with Serpentine Handles, 19th Century.

A matched pair of Kashmiri brass vases of baluster form, each richly decorated in polychrome enamel with alternating panels of scrolling floral and foliate motifs.

The bodies are divided into lozenge-shaped reserves filled with intricate arabesque patterns in cobalt blue, emerald green, turquoise and aubergine tones, highlighted with gilt detailing. The enamelled ornament is arranged in rhythmic bands, with a continuous decorative border encircling the neck and foot.

Each vase is fitted with twin serpentine handles terminating in finely modelled makara or dragon-form heads at the rim. The handles curve outward and downward in elegant scrolls, adding sculptural dynamism to the overall profile. The interiors retain their warm brass finish, contrasting with the vividly enamelled exteriors.
