This Indian ritual figurine depicts Kamadhenu, the sacred wish-fulfilling cow of Hindu mythology. The deity is portrayed in a maternal stance, nursing a small calf beneath her. The sculpture is mounted on an integral, stepped square plinth. The anatomy is rendered in a traditional stylised manner, featuring tubular legs, a pronounced dewlap, and large, expressive eyes. The cow is adorned with an incised geometric saddlecloth across her back and a heavy, textured collar around her neck. Such pieces were commonly used in domestic shrines for puja or as votive offerings in temples.
H: Approximately 4.1cm
Condition report:
The figurine displays a rich, dark patina with evidence of age and ritual handling. There is a notable accumulation of surface dust and light earthy encrustation in the deeper recesses, particularly around the base and the calf. Minor surface abrasions and softening to the incised details are present, consistent with the piece\'s age and history of use. No signs of modern repair or restoration are visible.
