A single detached illuminated manuscript leaf of Western Indian origin, likely from Gujarat or Rajasthan, possibly dating from the 16th or 17th century. The leaf features six lines of text executed in gold ink (suvarna-syahi) using a refined Jain Nagari script. The central text block is enclosed within a multi-ruled border of red and black ink. The left margin displays the folio number 100 in Devanagari numerals. The content is derived from a Jain religious text, potentially the Kalpa Sutra or a related canonical work, with the final line including the numeration 24 and partial text appearing to read Sudharma.
Approximately 14 x 10.7cm
Condition report:
The leaf shows characteristic signs of age, including overall toning and scattered foxing across the paper surface. There is minor fraying and small losses along the edges. The gold ink remains largely legible and retains its metallic sheen.
