Lot 347: A CHINESE FAMILLE JAUNE DRAGON TEA BOWL AND SAUCER.
A three-piece porcelain tea set, known as a gaiwan, comprising a flared bowl, a domed lid with a circular ring finial, and a shallow matching saucer. The set is decorated in the famille jaune palette, featuring a vibrant lemon-yellow ground with an intentional fine crackle effect. The primary motif consists of five-clawed dragons rendered in green enamel, depicted chasing flaming pearls amidst polychrome ruyi-shaped clouds in shades of pink, purple, blue, and white. The interiors of the bowl and lid, and the centre of the finial, are finished with a pale turquoise glaze. The rims are accented with thin orange-red lines. The base of the tea bowl bears a four-character seal script mark in underglaze blue within a double square border, reading Yongzheng Nian Zhi (Made during the Yongzheng reign).
H of Bowl: Approximately 4.8cm
D of Stand: Approximately 11.3cm
Condition report:
The set is in excellent condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration. The network of fine lines across the yellow surface is a decorative crackle glaze technique and does not represent structural damage.
