An Indian miniature painting executed in gouache on paper, depicting a standing, bearded male figure in profile. The subject is shown as a nobleman or official, dressed in a long, pale green robe featuring a fine repeating floral or foliate pattern. The figure wears a striped orange and pink sash at the waist and a coordinating orange turban. He holds a small, rectangular object, possibly a book or a casket, in his outstretched hands. The composition is set against a solid reddish-brown ground and is enclosed by thin blue and red rule borders. The entire work is mounted within a wide, blue-grey paper border. The style is consistent with late Mughal or Provincial Mughal portraiture of the 18th or 19th century.

Approximately 26.5 x 20.5cm

Condition report:

The painting appears to be in good overall condition. There is minor wear and slight fraying visible along the edges of the outer blue-grey paper support. The painted surface remains stable with no evidence of significant pigment loss or flaking.
