A Chinese carved nephrite jade pendant fashioned in the form of a ritual ge dagger or blade. The piece is worked from stone of a pale celadon tone featuring prominent areas of russet and golden-orange skin. The front of the blade is decorated in high relief with a sinuous, crawling chilong or hornless dragon. The creature is depicted with a bifurcated body, limbs with clawed feet, and a long curved tail. The head is carved in openwork at the wider end of the blade, featuring a bifurcated crest that curls over the edge. The reverse is predominantly flat and polished, showcasing the natural texture and colour variations of the stone, including areas of earth-toned calcification and surface alteration. A single circular hole is drilled through the rectangular tang for suspension.

L: Approximately 11.2cm

Condition report:

The jade is in good overall condition with no major chips or fractures visible. The surface displays natural fissures, inclusions, and characteristic weathering consistent with the material and archaistic style. Minor surface wear is present, commensurate with age.
