A cylindrical jade bead or tube, known as a le, carved from nephrite jade of a pale celadon-green tone. The object features a slightly tapering profile towards both ends and is pierced longitudinally with a central bore for suspension. The main body is decorated in relief with a repetitive grain pattern (guwen), consisting of rows of raised, spiralling bosses. The composition is divided into two sections by a central band of incised diagonal rope-twist or cord decoration. Similar rope-twist bands terminate both the upper and lower ends of the tube.
