The outer ring is applied directly to the blue ground in a silver-toned metallic pigment, featuring stylized Arabic script in a circular arrangement. The middle tier is a raised, laser-cut fretwork panel with a gold-toned metallic finish, creating a complex interlaced calligraphic pattern in relief. The central medallion is a circular disc with a silver-toned finish, bearing a dense calligraphic composition in a darker, contrasting pigment. Condition report:
The sculpture appears to be in excellent condition. The metallic finishes on the gold and silver sections show consistent luster with no visible oxidation, peeling, or loss of pigment (photo 1). The textured blue background is uniform in colour and shows no visible scuffs or abrasions. The intricate fretwork on the central gold layer is intact, with no broken or missing elements visible in the cut-work (photo 2). The five blue cabochons in the centre appear securely attached.
