A pair of substantial Islamic chess pieces, representing kings, carved from contrasting hardstones, one of dark grey-blue lapis lazuli and the other of deep green jade. Each of tall architectural form with a projecting central finial and raised arched panel to the front. The surfaces are decorated with incised and drilled ring-and-dot motifs arranged in geometric patterns, with further repeating ornament around the bases.
